Heart Health Matters 💓ECG Screenings for Saranac Students!

Posted Date: 1/15/25 (10:12 PM)

💓 Let's protect the hearts of our Saranac students!  💓

Saranac school has partnered with Who We Play For to provide the opportunity to get their heart checked with an electrocardiogram (ECG).

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death on school campuses – more than any form of cancer, concussion or illness combined. Thousands of seemingly healthy kids die every year due to detectable heart conditions.

That’s why Saranac Central School is thrilled to announce that we’ve partnered with Who We Play For to provide our youth the opportunity to get their heart checked with an electrocardiogram (ECG).

The heart screening will take place on Monday March 31st from 8:30am to 12:30pm at Saranac High School. Students ages 10-25 can sign up for a screening online here: Heart Screenings for Clinton County, NY — Who We Play For

Why take advantage of this electrocardiogram (ECG) heart screening?

         ●    The standard physical is statistically proven to be less than 4%

effective at detecting any heart conditions, adding an ECG improves those odds to 80-95%.

●    Who We Play For - ECG (EKG) screenings save lives

  • ECG screening is non-invasive, painless and takes about 5 minutes.
  • Each ECG will be interpreted by a pediatric cardiologist or cardiologist specifically trained for the heart of an athlete. Results will be returned via email within one week of the screening.
  • An ECG typically costs around $150~ Saranac School has teamed up with Who we Play For to offer this to you for only $20.
